OCS are currently recruiting for a specialist RC Frame & Groundworks subcontractor that is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take the commercial lead on a major Data Centre project in Portugal.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior QS / Quantity Surveyor who is looking for genuine responsibility, international project experience and the opportunity to take ownership of a major package from a commercial perspective.

THE OPPORTUNITY
You will take the commercial lead for the project, working closely with the Project Manager, Commercial Director and site team to manage the commercial performance of significant groundworks and reinforced concrete packages.
This is a hands-on role where you'll have real ownership of the commercial function rather than simply being one of several QSs within a large commercial team. Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking overall commercial responsibility for the project
• Managing the commercial performance of RC Frame and Groundworks packages
• Leading monthly valuations and applications for payment
• Managing variations, change control and entitlement
• Preparing and managing cost/value forecasts
• Managing subcontractor and supplier accounts
• Reviewing and negotiating contractual matters
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
• Preparing regular commercial reports and forecasts
• Working closely with the project and site management teams
• Managing client and subcontractor relationships
• Ensuring commercial processes and reporting are maintained throughout the project
• Providing commercial guidance and support to the wider project team

WHO I'M LOOKING FOR
I'm keen to speak with experienced Quantity Surveyors who have a strong background in civils, groundworks, reinforced concrete or structural packages.
Ideally, you'll have:

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor
• Strong civils, groundworks or RC Frame experience
• Experience managing significant packages from a commercial perspective
• Strong understanding of measurement, valuation and change management
• Good contractual knowledge
• Experience with cost reporting, forecasting and commercial management
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• The confidence to take ownership and operate as the commercial lead
• Strong IT/Excel skills
• A relevant QS, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification is advantageous
• Experience working on Data Centre, industrial or major infrastructure projects would be highly desirable
