OCS Recruitment are currently sourcing an experienced Quality Manager on behalf of a highly respected Irish building and civil engineering contractor for a landmark redevelopment project in Westport, Co. Mayo.

About the Project
This is a flagship heritage and tourism project valued at €65.5 million, centred on the restoration, conservation, and enhancement of a historic heritage & tourism site. The scope includes:

Role Overview
As Quality Manager, you will lead the quality assurance and quality control function on site, ensuring all works meet the project specifications, regulatory standards, and the contractor's own quality management system. You will work closely with the project team, subcontractors, and the design team to embed a right-first-time culture across a complex, multi-phased heritage site.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan in line with the company's Integrated Management System (IMS)
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and surveillance of works to verify compliance with specifications, drawings, and standards
• Manage the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process — from identification and root-cause analysis through to close-out
• Coordinate and oversee the Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) register, ensuring all hold and witness points are managed
• Lead the preparation and review of project quality documentation, including method statements, ITPs, traceability records, and handover packs
• Liaise with the design team, client representatives, and statutory authorities on quality-related matters
• Support the project team with material approvals, supplier evaluations, and incoming inspection
• Monitor and report on quality performance metrics, identifying trends and driving continuous improvement
• Deliver quality induction and toolbox talks to site teams and subcontractors
• Ensure all heritage-sensitive works comply with conservation principles and relevant protected-structure regulations
• Assist with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 audits as required

Key Requirements

• Degree or trade background in Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum 5+ years' experience in a quality management role or engineering role within the Irish construction industry
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards and quality management systems
• Experience working on large-scale, complex construction projects — heritage or conservation experience is a distinct advantage
• Proficient in quality documentation, ITPs, NCR management, and audit processes
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence quality behaviours across the site team
• Detail-oriented, methodical, and proactive in identifying and resolving quality issues
• Full driving licence and willingness to be based in Westport for the duration of the project
