We are currently seeking an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team of a well-established main contractor delivering a diverse portfolio of high-quality construction projects across Ireland.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to take responsibility for the financial and contractual management of projects from pre-construction through to completion and final account.
The Role The successful candidate will play a key role in managing project costs, commercial performance and contractual obligations while working closely with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients.
Key Responsibilities - Take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from commencement through to final account.
- Prepare, monitor and manage project budgets, cost plans and financial forecasts.
- Manage the procurement of subcontractor and supplier packages.
- Review and negotiate subcontractor quotations and agreements.
- Prepare and assess interim valuations, payment applications and payment certificates.
- Monitor project expenditure and maintain accurate cost reporting.
- Prepare regular cost/value reports and cash-flow forecasts.
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage variations, claims and contractual correspondence.
- Measure and value works completed on site.
- Manage subcontractor accounts through to agreement of final accounts.
- Work closely with the project management and site teams to ensure commercial targets are achieved.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist with commercial and contractual matters throughout the project.
- Ensure all commercial and contractual documentation is maintained accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
- Support the successful completion and close-out of projects.
Requirements - Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' experience working in a Quantity Surveying role within the Irish construction industry.
- Experience working for a main contractor is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, cost management and commercial procedures.
- Proven experience managing project costs, subcontractors, valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent numerical, analytical and organisational abilities.
- Strong IT skills and experience with relevant commercial/project management systems.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider project team.
- Commercially astute with a proactive approach to identifying risks and opportunities.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
