Our client is a well-established and highly respected groundworks and civil engineering contractor with nearly 60 years of experience delivering complex projects across the UK.
Specialising in groundworks, reinforced concrete frames, infrastructure and enabling works, they have built an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the education, commercial, residential and infrastructure sectors. 
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major school project in Essex.

The Role
Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will take full responsibility for the successful delivery of the groundworks package, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest standards.
You'll lead site operations from mobilisation through to completion, working closely with site teams, engineers, the commercial team and the client to ensure a successful project outcome.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of a major groundworks package.
  • Lead site teams, engineers, supervisors and subcontractors.
  • Plan and monitor programmes, resources and site logistics.
  • Ensure the highest standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to monitor budgets, costs and variations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks and implement effective solutions.
  • Deliver projects on time, within budget and to specification.
About You 
  • Proven experience working for a groundworks or civil engineering subcontractor – this is essential.
  • Previous experience as a Project Manager, or an experienced Senior Site Manager ready to step up.
  • A strong technical understanding of groundworks, including drainage, foundations, earthworks, reinforced concrete and external works.
  • Experience delivering education, commercial or infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
We're keen to hear from candidates who have progressed into management through either:
  • A Site Engineering background, or
  • A hands-on trade background, such as Groundworker, Foreman or Supervisor.
Both routes are welcomed, provided you have a proven track record of delivering successful groundworks packages for a specialist subcontractor.

  • Full UK Driving Licence
