Overview:We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially aware Procurement Specialist to support construction projects through effective sourcing, supplier management, and cost control. This role plays a key part in ensuring materials, plant, and subcontract services are procured efficiently, on time, and within budget while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities: - Manage end-to-end procurement processes for construction materials, plant hire, and subcontract packages
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best value
- Prepare and issue requests for quotations (RFQs), analyse bids, and make recommendations
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Collaborate closely with project managers, quantity surveyors, and site teams to align procurement with project timelines
- Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply risks to inform procurement strategies
- Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and health & safety requirements
- Track orders, manage deliveries, and resolve any supply chain issues proactively
- Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and reporting documentation
- Support cost control initiatives and identify opportunities for savings and efficiencies
Requirements: - Degree or diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field
- 3+ years’ experience in a procurement role, preferably within construction or engineering
- Strong negotiation and commercial awareness skills
- Knowledge of construction materials, subcontracting, and supply chain processes
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Desirable: - Membership or progress toward a professional body (e.g., CIPS)
- Experience working on large-scale construction projects
- Familiarity with Irish construction regulations and standards
