Job Title: Procurement Specialist (Construction)
Location: Cork, Ireland
Job Type: Full-Time

Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially aware Procurement Specialist to support construction projects through effective sourcing, supplier management, and cost control. This role plays a key part in ensuring materials, plant, and subcontract services are procured efficiently, on time, and within budget while maintaining quality and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage end-to-end procurement processes for construction materials, plant hire, and subcontract packages
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best value
  • Prepare and issue requests for quotations (RFQs), analyse bids, and make recommendations
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, quantity surveyors, and site teams to align procurement with project timelines
  • Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply risks to inform procurement strategies
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and health & safety requirements
  • Track orders, manage deliveries, and resolve any supply chain issues proactively
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and reporting documentation
  • Support cost control initiatives and identify opportunities for savings and efficiencies
Requirements:
  • Degree or diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in a procurement role, preferably within construction or engineering
  • Strong negotiation and commercial awareness skills
  • Knowledge of construction materials, subcontracting, and supply chain processes
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Desirable:
  • Membership or progress toward a professional body (e.g., CIPS)
  • Experience working on large-scale construction projects
  • Familiarity with Irish construction regulations and standards
