Junior Quantity Surveyor

An established construction and roofing contractor based in Meath is seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop their career within the construction industry. The successful candidate will work closely with the Quantity Surveying and Project Management teams, gaining hands-on experience across a range of commercial and residential construction projects.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of project budgets, cost plans and estimates.
  • Support the preparation and submission of tenders and quotations.
  • Assist with measuring quantities from drawings, specifications and site information.
  • Assist with the procurement of materials, plant and subcontractor services.
  • Obtain and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Assist with the preparation and management of subcontractor and supplier orders.
  • Monitor project costs and expenditure against agreed budgets.
  • Assist with monthly valuations, payment applications and cost reports.
  • Support the preparation and review of variations and additional works.
  • Assist with commercial administration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaise with site teams, suppliers, subcontractors, clients and consultants.
  • Attend site meetings and assist with commercial matters as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of project costs, contracts and documentation.
  • Assist with final accounts and project close-out.
  • Ensure all commercial activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures and project requirements.
Requirements
  • Degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
  • Ideally, some experience within the construction industry through a placement, internship or previous employment.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also managing tasks independently.
  • Full clean driving licence is desirable due to the site-based nature of the role.
