About the Role We are currently seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established civil engineering contractor based in Dublin.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Quantity Surveyor at the early stages of their career to develop their commercial and contractual skills while gaining valuable experience across a range of civil engineering projects.
Working closely with the commercial and project teams, you will assist with the financial management of projects from procurement through to completion, while developing your understanding of cost control, valuations, subcontract management and commercial reporting.
Key Responsibilities - Assist with the commercial management of civil engineering projects.
- Support the preparation and submission of interim valuations and payment applications.
- Assist with measuring works, preparing quantities and reviewing project costs.
- Assist with the preparation and management of subcontractor and supplier accounts.
- Monitor project expenditure, variations and change orders.
- Assist with the preparation of cost reports and commercial forecasts.
- Review drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
- Support the commercial team with procurement and subcontractor negotiations.
- Assist with maintaining accurate records of project costs and commitments.
- Identify potential commercial risks and assist with implementing appropriate controls.
- Work closely with site management, project managers, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist with final accounts and project close-out.
- Ensure commercial activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures and contractual requirements.
Requirements - Degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
- Ideally, some experience within the construction or civil engineering sector, although strong graduates will also be considered.
- Good numerical and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Full clean driving licence is desirable.
