An established and growing civil engineering contractor is seeking a motivated Junior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone at the early stages of their quantity surveying career to gain hands-on experience across a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
Working alongside experienced commercial professionals, you will assist with cost management, subcontract administration, valuations, procurement, and project reporting while developing your technical and commercial skills.
Key Responsibilities - Assist in the preparation of project cost estimates and budgets.
- Support the measurement and valuation of works completed.
- Prepare and process subcontractor payments.
- Assist with procurement of materials and subcontract packages.
- Monitor project costs and identify commercial risks.
- Help prepare interim valuations and final accounts.
- Maintain accurate project records and commercial documentation.
- Liaise with site teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
- Assist in preparing monthly cost reports.
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and company procedures.
Essential Requirements - Degree or Higher Diploma in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Full clean driving licence (preferred).
Desirable - Previous placement or internship experience in construction or civil engineering.
- Knowledge of standard forms of contract.
- Familiarity with cost management software.
- Interest in pursuing professional accreditation (e.g. SCSI or RICS).
