Job Purpose
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a vital role in supporting the Health and Safety Team to ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety across all construction sites. This entry-level role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development within the health and safety field in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and policies
- Support the implementation of health and safety regulations and company policies in line with local and national legislation
- Assist in preparing and reviewing risk assessments and method statements for construction activities
- Support the delivery of health and safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions for site personnel
- Record and report near-misses, accidents, and incidents, and participate in investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Maintain accurate records of site inspections, audits, and incident reports, and prepare reports and updates for the Health and Safety Manager
- Monitor the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by employees and contractors
- Encourage a proactive approach to health and safety by fostering a culture of awareness and accountability among all employees and subcontractors
Qualifications, Key Skills & Competencies
- A recognised qualification in Health and Safety
- Previous experience in a construction or health and safety-related role (e.g., internship or work placement)
- Strong interest in health and safety within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and construction practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Willingness to travel to various construction sites as required
