Health & Safety Advisor
- Kildare
- Permanent / Full Time
- 04 Sep 2026
OCS Recruitment is partnering with an established civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure and groundworks projects across the Leinster region. Due to continued growth, they are creating a new Health & Safety Advisor position to join their team.
This role is ideal for someone with 2-4 years of hands-on H&S experience who is ready to take ownership of sites independently with the support and guidance from the Health & Safety Manager. You won't be based at a single location — you'll travel between active sites across Leinster, so flexibility on base location is essential.
It's a great next step for an advisor ready to run their own portfolio of sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks across multiple active civils sites
- Support site managers and supervisors with risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and safety documentation
- Investigate near-misses, incidents, and accidents — produce clear reports with practical recommendations
- Deliver toolbox talks and on-site safety briefings
- Monitor compliance with health & safety legislation, company policy, and client requirements
- Maintain accurate records — inspection registers, training matrices, incident logs, and safety files
- Build relationships with site teams and subcontractors to promote a positive safety culture
- Keep up to date with Irish safety legislation and industry best practice
What We're Looking For
- 2-4 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within civil engineering or with a main contractor — this is essential
- A relevant third-level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (ideally level 7 upwards)
- Hold or be working towards NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH or above) is advantageous
- Full, clean driving licence — willing to travel daily across Leinster
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload across multiple sites
- Good communicator — able to challenge unsafe practices constructively and support frontline team
