Health & Safety Advisor
Location: Carlow
OCS Recruitment is working on behalf of a well-established and growing roofing and construction contractor to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Advisor for their operations based in Carlow.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected business delivering roofing, cladding, refurbishment, and construction projects across Ireland. The role will be predominantly based in Carlow, with infrequent travel to project locations in Ireland and Europe as required.
The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, and supporting project teams in maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional health and safety support across multiple construction and roofing projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety reviews.
- Prepare, review, and update risk assessments, method statements, and safety documentation.
- Monitor compliance with Irish health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
- Assist in the development and implementation of company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and employee training initiatives.
- Liaise with site managers, subcontractors, clients, and regulatory bodies on health and safety matters.
- Maintain accurate records and reports relating to inspections, incidents, and compliance activities.
- Support management in driving continuous improvement in safety performance and culture.
- Assist with ISO management systems and accreditation requirements where applicable.
Requirements
- Relevant Health & Safety qualification (Diploma, Degree, or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety role within construction, roofing, civil engineering, or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and construction regulations.
- Experience conducting site audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and health & safety reporting systems.
Desirable
- Experience within roofing, cladding, or specialist contracting environments.
- Membership of IOSH, IIRSM, or equivalent professional body.
- Experience with ISO 45001 management systems.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification.
