We are currently recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join an established and growing construction business based in Longford.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator to play a key role in the pre-construction and tendering process, preparing accurate and competitive estimates for a variety of projects and working closely with the wider commercial and project teams.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Reviewing tender documentation, drawings, specifications and project requirements.
  • Preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates and tender submissions.
  • Taking off quantities from drawings and specifications.
  • Obtaining and assessing quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Pricing materials, labour, plant and subcontract packages.
  • Identifying potential risks, exclusions and commercial opportunities within tenders.
  • Preparing bills of quantities and detailed pricing schedules where required.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers throughout the tender process.
  • Assisting with tender queries, clarifications and negotiations.
  • Maintaining accurate estimating records and databases.
  • Supporting the commercial team with handover from tender to project delivery.
  • Ensuring estimates are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Keeping up to date with current material, labour and subcontractor costs.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in an Estimator role within the construction industry.
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Engineering or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and costs.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and estimating/tendering software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider commercial team.
