We are currently recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join an established and growing construction business based in Longford.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator to play a key role in the pre-construction and tendering process, preparing accurate and competitive estimates for a variety of projects and working closely with the wider commercial and project teams.
Key Responsibilities - Reviewing tender documentation, drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates and tender submissions.
- Taking off quantities from drawings and specifications.
- Obtaining and assessing quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Pricing materials, labour, plant and subcontract packages.
- Identifying potential risks, exclusions and commercial opportunities within tenders.
- Preparing bills of quantities and detailed pricing schedules where required.
- Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers throughout the tender process.
- Assisting with tender queries, clarifications and negotiations.
- Maintaining accurate estimating records and databases.
- Supporting the commercial team with handover from tender to project delivery.
- Ensuring estimates are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
- Keeping up to date with current material, labour and subcontractor costs.
Requirements - Previous experience in an Estimator role within the construction industry.
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Engineering or a related discipline is desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and costs.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and estimating/tendering software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider commercial team.
