OCS are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading European construction contractor for an experienced EHS Manager to join a major Data Centre project in Helsinki, Finland.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional to take a key role on a large-scale, technically complex project within the rapidly expanding European data centre sector.
The successful candidate will work closely with the project management team, subcontractors and client representatives to ensure the highest standards of Environmental, Health & Safety compliance are maintained throughout the project.
 
The Role
As EHS Manager, you will take responsibility for driving the EHS strategy across the project, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, project requirements and industry best practice.
You will be expected to be highly visible on site, providing leadership, guidance and support to construction teams while developing a proactive and positive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage EHS activities across the project.
• Develop, implement and maintain project-specific EHS plans and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with Finnish and EU Health & Safety legislation and project requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and behavioural safety observations.
• Review RAMS, risk assessments, Safe Plans of Action and Permit to Work documentation.
• Monitor and manage subcontractor EHS performance.
• Identify hazards and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented.
• Lead incident, accident and near-miss investigations and ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Deliver EHS inductions, toolbox talks and training sessions.
• Monitor project EHS KPIs and produce regular reports for senior management.
• Work closely with construction and project management teams to identify and mitigate risks.
• Promote a strong safety-first culture across the workforce.
• Maintain accurate EHS records and ensure all statutory requirements are met.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across Health, Safety and Environmental performance.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
• 5+ years' experience in an EHS/HSE management position within construction.
• Experience working on large-scale, complex construction projects.
• Previous Data Centre, Mission Critical, Pharmaceutical, Industrial or similarly high-risk project experience would be highly advantageous.
• Strong understanding of construction risk management, RAMS, permits, audits and incident investigation.
• Experience managing and influencing subcontractors and large multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of European Health & Safety standards and legislation.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong reporting and organisational abilities.
• Fluent English.
• EU citizenship / unrestricted right to work in Finland is required.
