Introduction OCS Recruitment is delighted to partner with a leading construction organisation in the appointment of an experienced EHS Lead. This is a key role focused on strengthening health, safety, environmental and wellbeing standards across a dynamic and growing business.
Reporting to the EHS/ESG Manager, the successful candidate will take ownership of EHS management systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and ISO standards while driving a culture of continuous improvement.
The EHS Lead will play a visible leadership role across projects—promoting proactive safety behaviours, supporting wellbeing initiatives, mentoring junior team members, and acting as the primary point of contact with regulatory authorities. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to make a tangible impact within a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities - Champion and embed a strong EHS culture across all project sites
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives within EHS systems, maintaining ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards
- Oversee PSDP/PSCS requirements, contractor compliance, and pre-qualification processes
- Conduct regular site visits, audits, inspections, and incident investigations
- Manage risk assessments, maintain the company risk register, and track corrective actions
- Prepare and present monthly EHS performance reports, analysing key project KPIs
- Deliver mandatory safety training and provide expert technical guidance to project teams
- Collaborate with HR, EDI, and ESG teams to support wellbeing and psychological safety initiatives
- Mentor and develop members of the EHS team
Candidate Profile - Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (NFQ Level 7 or higher)
- 5–8 years’ experience in a senior EHS role within the construction sector
- PSDP/PSCS qualification (desirable)
- Proven experience managing ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001 systems
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail
- Confident delivering training with strong reporting and IT capabilities
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Full clean driving licence
