Our client is an established and ambitious developer with over €200m turnover with a significant pipeline of residential and mixed-use developments across Cork and the wider Munster region. With multiple large-scale schemes in delivery and further phases progressing through planning, they are seeking an experienced Construction Director to lead and scale the construction function.
This is a board-level leadership opportunity with strategic and operational responsibility.
The Construction Director will have full oversight of all construction activities across the company’s portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
You will play a key role in shaping delivery strategy, building high-performing teams, and contributing to the long-term growth of the business.
- Strategic Leadership
- Lead the overall construction strategy across multiple developments
- Contribute to company-wide business planning and growth strategy
- Provide buildability and programme input at land acquisition stage
- Support funding discussions with delivery and programme insight
- Oversee Contracts Managers, Project Managers, and site teams
- Ensure all projects are delivered on programme and within budget
- Monitor performance across quality, cost, and H&S metrics
- Implement systems to drive operational efficiency and reporting
- Work closely with Commercial Director and QS teams to protect margins
- Oversee procurement strategy and subcontractor performance
- Manage contractual risk across all developments
- Drive value engineering and cost management initiatives
- Ensure best-in-class quality standards across all projects
- Maintain full compliance with Irish building regulations and statutory requirements
- Lead health & safety culture across the organisation
- Build and mentor a high-performing construction leadership team
- Drive accountability and performance culture
- Support succession planning and talent development
- 15+ years’ experience in construction, with significant leadership exposure
- Proven experience in a Construction Director / Contracts Director role
- Strong background in residential or mixed-use developments
- Experience working directly for a developer preferred
- Excellent commercial, contractual, and programme management skills
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to operate at board level
- Third-level qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline
- Experience delivering multi-phase housing or large apartment schemes
- Strong knowledge of the Cork / Munster construction market
- Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation
- Experience scaling a growing development business
