Our client is a successful and expanding construction and property business based in Co. Kildare, with an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join their growing finance team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who is looking to develop their career within a dynamic industry. Working as part of a busy finance function, you will gain broad exposure across the accounts department and play an important role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
The successful candidate will be organised, commercially minded and keen to develop their accounting experience within a fast-paced environment.
The Role Reporting to the Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Processing purchase and sales invoices
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Matching invoices with purchase orders and supporting documentation
- Supplier statement reconciliations and resolution of queries
- Bank reconciliations
- Processing supplier and other payments
- Assisting with credit control and debtor management
- Processing employee expenses
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Assisting with month-end accounts and reporting
- Supporting the finance team with project and construction-related accounting activities
- Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams regarding accounts queries
- Providing general support to the Finance Manager and wider finance function
- Assisting with process improvements and ad-hoc finance projects as required
About You We are looking for an Accounts Assistant who is accurate, organised and proactive, with a genuine interest in developing their career within finance.
You will ideally have:
- 1–3 years' experience in an accounts/finance role
- A good understanding of accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills
- Experience with accounts payable and/or accounts receivable
- Good Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Experience using accounting software
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment
- A positive, team-focused and proactive approach
Experience within the construction, property or engineering sector would be advantageous, particularly exposure to subcontractors, suppliers, purchase orders or project-related accounts.
An accounting qualification, part-qualification or relevant third-level qualification would also be an advantage.
