Accounts Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of a busy and growing organisation. The successful candidate will assist with a wide range of accounting and administrative tasks, ensuring accurate financial records and supporting the finance team in maintaining efficient processes.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Process purchase invoices, supplier statements, and expense claims.
  • Prepare and issue customer invoices and credit notes.
  • Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and supplier/customer accounts.
  • Assist with monthly management accounts preparation.
  • Process payments and monitor cash flow activities.
  • Support payroll administration and related documentation.
  • Prepare VAT returns and assist with statutory reporting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems.
  • Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal departments regarding account queries.
  • Assist with audits and year-end financial procedures.
  • Perform general administrative duties as required by the finance department.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper, or Finance Administration role.
  • Relevant accounting qualification (ATI, Accounting Technician, or equivalent) desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience using Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of Irish VAT and payroll procedures.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced office environment.
