EHS Advisor - Dublin Region

OCS Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced EHS Advisor to join one of Ireland's leading construction organisations. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on major projects across the Dublin region within a company that places a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and professional development. 
 
Overview
The Site EHS Advisor will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving all environmental, health, and safety standards on a designated project site. The successful candidate will support the project team to ensure full compliance with Irish legislation, company policies, client requirements, and industry best practices.
This is a key position that promotes a proactive safety culture, minimises risk, and ensures the wellbeing of all personnel on site.
 
Key Responsibilities Health & Safety Management and Leadership
  • Implement company EHS policies, procedures, and site-specific safety plans.
  • Support the implementation of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Management Systems.
  • Promote the organisation's safety culture, vision, and values.
  • Ensure compliance with Irish health and safety legislation (e.g., Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, Construction Regulations 2013).
  • Conduct daily site inspections, audits, and walkthroughs to identify and control hazards.
  • Monitor contractor performance and provide guidance on safe work practices.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and instruction in all EHS matters to management, safety representatives, and employees (including subcontractors).
  • Be a visible presence on site—engaging directly with site operatives and subcontractors.
  • Identify unsafe behaviours or conditions and take immediate corrective action.
Risk Assessment and Control
  • Coordinate the review and approval of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Support site teams in developing and implementing effective control measures.
  • Participate in design and planning reviews to identify potential EHS risks.
Incident Management
  • Lead or assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Compile detailed reports and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Track closeout of actions and communicate lessons learned across the project team.
Training and Engagement
  • Deliver site safety inductions, toolbox talks, and targeted safety training sessions.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through engagement and visible leadership.
  • Support behavioural safety and worker engagement programmes.
Environmental Stewardship
  • Ensure environmental management controls are in place (waste segregation, spill prevention, noise/dust control, etc.).
  • Monitor compliance with environmental legislation and company sustainability objectives.
  • Assist with environmental reporting and audits.
Reporting and Administration
  • Maintain accurate EHS documentation, including inspection records, training logs, and incident reports.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly EHS performance reports for project and corporate teams.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Relevant EHS qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH, or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Management).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar EHS role within construction, engineering, pharmaceutical, or data centre sectors.
  • Strong working knowledge of Irish EHS legislation and codes of practice.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and leadership skills.
  • Strong IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently while demonstrating strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
