OCS Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced SHESQ Advisor to join a leading civil engineering contractor on a project in Whitegate, Cork.
 
Our client is a leading engineering and construction partner delivering specialist services across energy and natural resources projects in multiple countries. Their work spans the maintenance, operation, modification, design, construction, and commissioning of energy networks and facilities, supporting customers through the energy transition and towards net-zero commitments. Services include onshore and offshore oil and gas infrastructure, pipelines, gas diversions, and renewable energy projects.
 
The Role
The SHESQ Advisor will play a key role in ensuring construction activities comply with all relevant Safety, Health, Environmental, Sustainability, and Quality (SHESQ) legislation and company standards. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior SHESQ Advisor.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of Safety, Environmental, and Quality Management Systems
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001
  • Deliver site inductions and prepare monthly SHESQ performance statistics
  • Champion the organisation's behaviour-based safety / culture development programme
  • Conduct and document site audits and inspections
  • Remain up to date with changes in safety, health, and environmental legislation and industry guidance
  • Verify training records and competency requirements for all site personnel
  • Investigate, log, and monitor incidents and non-conformances
  • Identify significant safety and environmental risks and assist in implementing appropriate controls
  • Maintain accurate and readily accessible SHESQ records
  • Prepare and deliver toolbox talks as required
  • Present at monthly safety meetings
  • Review subcontractor SHESQ documentation for compliance
About You
  • Higher Diploma in Health & Safety (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 1 years' relevant experience on civil construction projects
  • Oil refinery experience is highly advantageous
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multiple teams
  • Flexible, proactive, and solutions-focused approach
  • Demonstrated leadership capability
