OCS Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a leading Irish contractor to recruit an experienced SHEQ Manager. This is a senior, standalone role where the successful candidate will act as the lead professional for all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) matters across the business.
The role is primarily based at the company's Head Office in Tralee, Co. Kerry, with limited travel to operational sites in Dublin. Site reviews in Dublin are supported by an external, Dublin-based service provider.
Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the company's lead professional for all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality functions
  • Develop, implement and maintain robust SHEQ management systems in line with legislative and best-practice requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Irish health & safety, environmental and quality legislation
  • Carry out regular audits, inspections and risk assessments across operational sites
  • Support project teams with SHEQ planning, documentation and site compliance
  • Investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Prepare and deliver SHEQ reports to senior management
  • Liaise with external auditors, regulatory bodies and service providers as required
  • Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organisation through training, engagement and leadership
Travel & Site Involvement
  • Travel to Dublin sites is envisaged at approximately one day per fortnight
  • Dublin-based site reviews are supported by an external service provider, ensuring balanced workload and coverage
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a SHEQ, HSEQ or Health & Safety management role
  • Strong knowledge of Irish health & safety legislation and environmental standards
  • Experience implementing and maintaining SHEQ management systems
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel as required
Desirable
  • Third-level qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline
  • Experience in construction, civil engineering or contracting environments
  • Lead auditor or ISO management system experience
