Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the Role An established construction contractor with a strong pipeline of projects in the West of Ireland is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Galway. This is a key leadership role, offering responsibility across the full project lifecycle, from pre-contract through to final account.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in cost management, procurement, subcontractor administration, and commercial reporting while supporting project teams to deliver high-quality developments on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities - Take full commercial responsibility for one or more projects from tender stage through to final account
- Prepare cost plans, budgets, and cash flow forecasts
- Manage procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including tender analysis and contract negotiation
- Administer subcontractor accounts, valuations, variations, and payments
- Prepare and present monthly cost value reconciliation (CVR) reports
- Manage and agree variations with clients and design teams
- Ensure effective cost control and value engineering throughout the project lifecycle
- Assist with risk management and commercial strategy on projects
- Support and mentor junior members of the commercial team
- Work closely with project managers, site teams, and external consultants
Requirements - Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
- Minimum of 7-10 years' experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, ideally with a main contractor
- Proven experience managing large-scale construction projects
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial processes
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong IT skills, including experience with commercial and cost management software
