About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding construction team in Cork. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing all cost and contractual aspects of high-value building and civil projects, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all quantity surveying duties on assigned projects from pre-contract to final account stage.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Lead the procurement process, including preparing tender documentation, analysing bids, and negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Provide accurate monthly cost reports and valuations, and monitor project costs against budgets.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage variations, claims, and contractual risks.
  • Liaise closely with project managers, site teams, design teams, and clients to ensure commercial objectives are met.
  • Support junior QS staff through mentoring and guidance, ensuring best practices are maintained across all projects.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and contractual obligations.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
  • Minimum of 8+ years' experience in a quantity surveying role, ideally within building or civil engineering projects.
  • Able to manage a development on their own and oversee another development with a Project QS under them completing the day to day of the site.
  • Strong commercial awareness with proven experience managing budgets on medium to large-scale projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., GCCC, RIAI, FIDIC).
  • Proficient in cost management software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Software Experience: CostX, EQUE2 (not essential)
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a project team.
