Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Kilkelly, Co. Mayo
 
Key Objective:

You will be joining a team of professionals dedicated to delivering the highest standards of work across a range of civil engineering and construction projects. The successful candidate will work on projects in sectors such as infrastructure, groundworks, road surfacing, and general civil engineering. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are essential, along with the ability to manage and build strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
 
Principal Duties:
  • Liaise with customers, project managers, and directors.
  • Measure, price, negotiate, and agree budgets and costs for variations to project scope.
  • Prepare and submit all applications for payment, ensuring all contractual entitlements are included.
  • Ensure payments are received in accordance with contract terms.
  • Prepare and submit estimates and tender information to clients promptly.
  • Present and negotiate final accounts, including all contractual entitlements.
  • Produce and present weekly cost/value reports and delivery schedules.
  • Prepare and present value reconciliations and final cost/value forecasts.
  • Develop and present work schedules and cash flows.
  • Manage procurement, negotiation, and placement of subcontract orders.
  • Oversee financial and commercial management of subcontractors through to final account settlement.
  • Issue all required contractual letters, notices, and supporting documentation in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Prepare documentation to support additional payments, variations, and claims.
  • Provide commercial and contractual support to site teams, supervisors, and contract managers.
  • Support estimating and procurement teams as needed.
  • Maintain close communication with clients on all commercial matters, providing supporting information as required.
  • Coordinate with recruitment agencies to source additional project staff and approve job costing requirements.
  • Deliver work to deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Demonstrate efficiency, productivity, and professionalism in all tasks.
  • Perform other duties as required by management.
 Working Conditions:
  • Based on-site at the company's head office in Kilkelly.
  • Occasional overtime may be required depending on project demands.
 Knowledge & Experience:
  • Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a quantity surveying role within construction or civil engineering.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proven experience liaising with project and contract managers, clients, and site representatives.
  • In-depth understanding of the construction industry and on-site processes.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Full, clean driver's licence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and proactive approach to work. 
Working Hours:
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm (40+ hours per week)
