About the Opportunity
OCS Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading civil engineering contractor at the forefront of Ireland's infrastructure development. We are seeking a Quality Engineer / Advisor to join their growing team and support operations across the Southeast region.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to play a key part in maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and performance on major water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
 
Key Responsibilities Quality Management & Planning
  • Review project contract documentation and identify all quality deliverables.
  • Develop and review Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Conduct audits and inspections both pre-project and during execution.
  • Analyse and present quality data for management reporting.
  • Support tender submissions and contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Carry out snagging activities and coordinate with clients to ensure issues are resolved efficiently.
Sampling, Testing & Analysis
  • Perform sampling and testing of construction materials (aggregates, tarmac, welds, concrete cubes, reinstatement materials).
  • Gather and analyse results from field and laboratory tests, including CLEGG results, cone penetrometer testing, and weld joint assessments.
  • Manage water and soil sampling logistics and ensure timely lab submissions.
  • Assist with pressure testing procedures, including setup, data collection, and analysis for TIS reporting.
  • Monitor calibration of key equipment (fusion boxes, CAT & Genny, CLEGG hammers) and manage calibration logistics.
Site Inspections & Compliance
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with project and client standards.
  • Inspect trench works, reinstatement (tarmac and concrete), and overall workmanship.
  • Perform audits and inspections in accordance with client and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with relevant authorities (EPA, County Councils, etc.) to maintain compliance and build positive working relationships.
  • Support client inspections and snagging activities, addressing concerns and documenting outcomes.
Communication & Support
  • Attend project and coordination meetings to provide updates on quality performance and compliance.
  • Deliver Toolbox Talks (TBTs) and quality-related briefings to site teams.
  • Collaborate closely with project and quality teams to drive continuous improvement.
Key Requirements
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a Construction-related discipline.
  • Previous experience in water infrastructure or utilities projects is a strong advantage.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve problems effectively.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Experience with quality systems, audits, and materials testing.
  • Good understanding of site operations and health & safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Full, clean Irish driver's licence is essential.
