We are partnering with a well-established construction firm in Galway that is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join their commercial team. Role Overview
 
The Purchasing Assistant will provide crucial support to the procurement team, ensuring the timely sourcing of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services to support ongoing projects. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in sourcing materials, plant, and subcontractor services for construction projects.
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, lead times, and product specifications.
  • Raise purchase orders and follow up to ensure timely delivery to sites.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier details, and price lists.
  • Support the procurement team in negotiating pricing and terms.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment as required.
  • Resolve delivery issues, discrepancies, or invoice queries.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Provide administrative support to the procurement and commercial departments as required.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or administrative support (construction experience is advantageous but not essential).
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with procurement or ERP systems is desirable.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a busy team environment.
