Job Title: Project Environmental Manager - Wind Farm Project

Project Overview
The client is currently delivering a major wind farm development in Donegal, which includes turbine installation, road construction, cabling, and associated civil works. This flagship renewable energy project plays a key role in supporting Ireland's sustainability targets and reducing carbon emissions. 
 
Role Purpose
As the Project Environmental Manager, you will lead all environmental management activities on this wind farm project, ensuring compliance with planning conditions, environmental legislation, and best practice standards. You will work closely with project teams, regulatory authorities, and stakeholders to safeguard environmental integrity throughout all stages of construction.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for the project.
  • Oversee and coordinate environmental monitoring programs, including water quality, noise, dust, and biodiversity.
  • Ensure adherence to all planning conditions, permits, and statutory obligations.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies such as NPWS and Inland Fisheries Ireland, providing regular compliance reports.
  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and training to ensure environmental awareness across the workforce.
  • Manage environmental risks, incidents, and non-conformances, ensuring corrective measures are implemented.
  • Work closely with construction teams to integrate environmental controls into site activities.
  • Prepare documentation and reports for both client and internal management on environmental performance.
  • Support stakeholder and community engagement as required.
Key Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Ecology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 1 years' experience in environmental management within civil engineering, infrastructure, or renewable energy projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and implementing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and management plans.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish environmental and planning regulations, including EIA Directive and Birds/Habitats Directives.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 environmental management systems.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Full driving licence and flexibility to work on-site in Donegal.
