An opportunity has arisen in a leading contractor in Kill (County Kildare) for a Principal Occupational Health & Safety Advisor on a 9 month contract.
 
This is a unique opportunity to join a progressive and committed Health & Safety division, focused on maintaining a consistently effective safety management system both within the organisation and across projects. 

Your mission
  • Lead and grow a strong health and safety culture across the segment.
  • Creates a culture of continuous improvement. 
  • Attend senior leadership meetings and events and be an integral part of that team's specialist advice and support.
  • Provide advice and support in the event of a significant health and safety incident including keeping senior management informed, investigating and reporting on the cause and effect and issuing recommendations to prevent reoccurrence. 
  • Take the lead in dealing with any external agencies in the event of a significant health and safety incident.
  • Use feedback and management information on the relevance and effectiveness of policy, systems and processes to help improve their design.
  • Ensuring that relevant health and safety policies and procedures are properly formulated, monitored and maintained.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous safety improvement and assisting the senior leadership teams in their implementation.
  • Continually developing and reviewing the health and safety management system in line with industry best practice.
  • Ensure that all accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in accordance with Company policy.
  • To perform the function of a matrix manager.
  • Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time.
  • Be able to deputise for the Director of Occupational Health and Safety
  • Assist in the compilation of OHS reports as required by the function and segment. 
 
Who are we looking for?
 
  • A degree or diploma in occupational health and safety.    
  • Chartered/Certified Membership of IOSH.   
  • Level 3 Award Education and Training (AET/PTLLS).
  • Successful experience in a management role on a Construction site/FM facility. 
  • Able to communicate at all levels within the organisation. 
  • Able to deliver health and safety training as required. 
  • Capable of leading major accident/incident investigations  
  • Thorough knowledge of OHSAS 45001 standards. 
  • Good organisational and motivational skills.
