OCS Recruitment is seeking an experienced Logistics Coordinator to efficiently manage a fleet of grab lorries operating across utility projects in the Dublin area for a leading civil engineering client. The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling, tracking, and optimising daily logistics operations to ensure maximum fleet efficiency and minimal downtime through a centralised booking and tracking system.
 
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Coordination & Allocation
  • Plan and assign daily routes and tasks to grab lorries based on project and site requirements.
  • Liaise with site supervisors and utility teams to confirm material removal or delivery needs (e.g., muck away, stone deliveries, trench backfill).
  • Monitor real-time activity and reallocate resources as needed in response to delays or urgent requests.
2. Booking & Scheduling System Management
  • Develop, implement, and manage a central booking system for grab service requests.
  • Prioritise bookings by urgency, location, material type, and programme deadlines.
3. Tracking & Reporting
  • Maintain live tracking of all grab lorries via GPS, telematics, or driver updates.
  • Record daily operational data, including number of loads, material types, and vehicle utilisation.
  • Produce weekly performance and utilisation reports for management review.
4. Stakeholder Liaison
  • Serve as the main point of contact between operations, site teams, and drivers.
  • Escalate and resolve issues such as access restrictions, delays, or recurring inefficiencies.
5. Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure all vehicles and operators comply with road regulations, permits, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with health, safety, and quality teams regarding inspections and audits.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential
  • Proven experience in logistics, fleet management, or site coordination (preferably within utilities or civil engineering).
  • Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, or fleet management systems.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
  • Experience with telematics or GPS tracking software (e.g., Verizon Connect, Fleetmatics, Trackmatic).
  • Background in utilities, reinstatement, or civil logistics coordination.
  • Familiarity with Road Opening Licences (ROLs) and Dublin City Council Roadworks Control.
