OCS Recruitment is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented
HSEQ Coordinator / Safety Advisor to support a leading engineering and construction organisation in maintaining and continuously improving their Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) systems. This role is focused on
coordination, compliance, documentation, and monitoring, ensuring the business meets legal obligations, certification requirements, and client standards across workshops and construction sites.
Key Responsibilities - Health & Safety - Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the company Health & Safety system in line with legal requirements and ISO 45001.
- Assist site and workshop teams with safety documentation, including RAMS, permits, toolbox talks, and inductions.
- Maintain accurate records for accidents, incidents, near-misses, and hazards.
- Assist with site inspections, audits, and the tracking of corrective actions.
- Coordinate health & safety training, certification records, and refresher training requirements.
- Monitor PPE issuance and compliance.
- Support investigations following incidents and assist with the implementation of corrective actions.
Environmental Responsibilities - Assist in maintaining the Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001.
- Monitor environmental controls, including waste segregation, spill prevention, chemical storage, and energy use.
- Maintain environmental registers, permits, and waste documentation.
- Support environmental inspections and audits.
- Promote environmental awareness across the organisation.
Quality & Accreditation Responsibilities - Support the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 and other relevant accreditations (e.g., EN1090).
- Maintain controlled documents, procedures, forms, and records.
- Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of audit packs and closing non-conformances.
- Maintain training, competency, and qualification matrices.
- Support supplier approval processes and compliance documentation.
- Assist with project documentation, including QA/QC records, ITPs, and handover files where required.
Compliance & Administrative Duties - Maintain accurate and organised HSEQ records across digital and paper-based systems.
- Track actions, deadlines, and renewals related to certifications, training, inspections, and permits.
- Assist management with reporting on HSEQ performance and KPIs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across HSEQ systems.
Skills & Competencies - Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- Good understanding of health & safety and compliance requirements in construction or engineering environments.
- Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with site teams, supervisors, and management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital document control systems.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
Qualifications & Experience - Relevant qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, or related discipline is desirable.
- Previous experience in an HSEQ, compliance, or administrative support role, preferably within construction or engineering.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
- Full driving licence may be required for site visits.
