We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading main building contractor for a
Health & Safety (H&S) Officer. This is a permanent role based in Dublin, offering the opportunity to work across a diverse range of projects including residential, educational, commercial, industrial, retail, and healthcare.
The Health & Safety Officer will play a key role in ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation, while also supporting the implementation of organisational safety standards across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities - Drive and support a positive health and safety culture across the organisation.
- Oversee implementation and maintenance of ISO 45001 and Safe-T-Cert certification.
- Develop and monitor project-specific construction stage plans (e.g. traffic management, waste management).
- Maintain and regularly update company risk assessments, method statements, safe operating procedures, and health & safety policies.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring corrective actions are followed through.
- Lead site-based health and safety campaigns and ensure compliance with all internal and external reporting requirements.
- Review and monitor subcontractor compliance, including safety documentation and site practices.
- Support site management teams with induction training and ensure appropriate records are maintained.
- Manage accident and incident investigations, ensuring preventative actions are identified and communicated.
- Oversee employee training programmes, maintain CPD records, and identify ongoing training needs.
- Compile weekly and monthly H&S reports and communicate findings to key stakeholders.
- Keep up-to-date with legislative changes, industry best practices, and emerging trends in health and safety management.
Qualifications - Relevant degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or related discipline).
- Minimum 3 years' H&S experience in the Irish construction sector.
- Membership with IOSH.
- Additional instructor qualifications (Manual Handling, Working at Height, Abrasive Wheels) advantageous but not essential.
Skills - Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and construction practices.
- Proven ability to influence, implement change, and champion best practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- IT literate with proficiency in MS Office and digital H&S systems.
- Full clean driving licence required.
