OCS Recruitment is currently working on behalf of a well-established main contractor delivering a high-profile construction project in
Westport, County Mayo. Our client is seeking an experienced
Health & Safety Officer to join the site team on a
full-time, site-based basis for the duration of this
10-12 month project.
The project involves the construction of
new laboratory facilities and associated ancillary works, offering an excellent opportunity to be part of a well-structured and safety-focused project team.
The Role Reporting to the Project Manager & EHS Manager and working closely with site management, the Health & Safety Officer will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of health & safety are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
This is a
fully site-based position for the duration of the project.
Key Responsibilities - Promote a positive and proactive health & safety culture on site
- Ensure full compliance with Irish Health & Safety legislation and company procedures
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks
- Review and monitor risk assessments, method statements, and permits
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts, and support corrective actions
- Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and external parties on safety matters
- Maintain accurate health & safety records and documentation
- Support continuous improvement of site safety performance
Key Requirements - Proven experience in a site-based Health & Safety role within the Irish construction industry (2+ years)
- Relevant Health & Safety qualification (Degree, Diploma, NEBOSH, or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and best practice
- Experience on laboratory, pharmaceutical, industrial, or commercial projects advantageous
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of site safety
Salary range: 48k-53k
