OCS Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced
Health & Safety Officer on behalf of a well-established international construction contractor delivering large-scale projects across Germany. This is a site-based role supporting project delivery teams to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance are achieved throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, site supervisors and subcontractors to promote a proactive safety culture and ensure all works are carried out in line with statutory requirements and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities - Support the Project Manager and site team in the implementation of health & safety policies, procedures and safe systems of work
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments, identifying hazards and ensuring appropriate control measures are in place
- Monitor day-to-day site activities to ensure compliance with project H&S plans and local legislation
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and ongoing safety training to employees and subcontractors
- Assist with accident, incident and near-miss investigations, preparing reports and implementing corrective actions
- Ensure method statements and risk assessments (RAMS) are reviewed, approved and adhered to on site
- Maintain accurate health & safety documentation, records and reports
- Liaise with Project Managers, engineers, supervisors, clients and external inspectors as required
- Promote continuous improvement and a positive health & safety culture across the project
Requirements - Degree or recognised qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) as a minimum; additional certifications an advantage
- 2-5+ years' experience in a Health & Safety Officer / Advisor role within construction or civil engineering
- Strong understanding of European and/or German health & safety legislation and site practices
- Experience working on large-scale construction or industrial projects
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team
- Willingness to be site-based in Germany (Frankfurt region)
