The Role This client is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Health & Safety Advisor with proven experience in the demolition industry to join our team on a range of high-risk, technically complex projects in Central London. You will play a key role in promoting a strong health and safety culture, ensuring all demolition, soft strip, and structural alteration works are carried out safely, in compliance with regulations and best practices.
- Monitor site health, safety, and environmental compliance across multiple demolition sites.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and site walkarounds, reporting on findings and ensuring actions are closed out.
- Prepare site-specific risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and Construction Phase Plans.
- Provide toolbox talks, inductions, and ongoing training to operatives and site teams.
- Advise on the safe planning and execution of demolition, soft strip, and temporary works.
- Support incident investigations and implement corrective/preventative actions.
- Maintain accurate records in line with ISO/OHSAS or internal management systems.
- Work collaboratively with site teams, subcontractors, and senior management to drive a strong safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with CDM 2015, relevant HSE regulations, and best practice guidelines.
- Liaise with external bodies (e.g. HSE, local authorities) as needed.
The Requirements:
- Health & Safety degree or NEBOSH Construction/General Certificate
- CCDO-qualified (Supervisor or above preferred) or equivalent demolition safety training.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Health & Safety Advisor in the demolition or enabling works sector.
- Good knowledge of CDM Regulations, LOLER, PUWER, and HSE Guidance (e.g., HSG168, BS6187).
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage operatives and managers alike.
- IT literate with ability to write reports and maintain digital safety documentation.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-risk environment in central urban locations.
