Role Overview The Environmental and Sustainability Advisor will be a key member of the Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental (HSQE) team, supporting the Environmental and Sustainability Manager in ensuring compliance, sustainability, and environmental best practices across multiple projects.
This role combines
onsite monitoring and desk-based responsibilities, providing exposure to diverse civil engineering projects and sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Onsite Responsibilities - Monitor environmental performance across project sites in Ireland (mainly Midlands and South-East regions).
- Conduct Environmental Site Inspections and maintain accurate inspection records.
- Raise work observations and Corrective/Preventive Actions (CAPAs) as required.
- Deliver Toolbox Talks (TBTs) and environmental training for employees and contractors.
Desk-Based Responsibilities - Assist with the implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and other relevant management systems.
- Support the promotion of environmental, sustainability, and carbon management policies and objectives.
- Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific Environmental Management Plans, Waste Management Plans, and Environmental Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans.
- Collect, analyse, and report environmental and sustainability data, including waste, energy, and carbon management metrics.
- Attend meetings as required with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements Essential - Third-level qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
- Full, clean Irish driving licence and confident driving across Ireland.
- Previous experience in a similar environmental or sustainability role.
- Experience on civil engineering, utilities, or roadwork projects.
- Experience liaising with subcontractors, clients, and the public.
