Role Summary: We are seeking a highly organised and motivated
Assistant Sustainability Specialist to support the Sustainability Lead in the delivery of high-impact sustainability outcomes across our construction and development projects. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with a leader in the field, gaining exposure to real-world implementation of sustainability strategies, certifications, and tools such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
The successful candidate will act as a right-hand person, helping to streamline operations, manage documentation, follow up on key tasks, and take ownership of specific technical and research-based workstreams. You should be equally comfortable managing diaries and chasing consultants as you are reviewing LCA data, drafting reports, or coordinating sustainability submissions.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide direct support to the Sustainability Lead to manage day-to-day operations, meetings, and project delivery.
- Track sustainability goals and certification progress (e.g., HPI, BREEAM, LEED, etc.) across multiple developments.
- Support the execution and coordination of Life Cycle Assessments, including liaising with quantity surveyors and design teams.
- Prepare draft reports, templates, and documentation for sustainability assessments and project reviews.
- Help manage internal project dashboards and sustainability trackers.
- Conduct targeted research on sustainability innovations, policy updates, or product alternatives.
- Organize meetings, manage calendars, and support follow-up actions with internal teams and external consultants.
- Maintain organized records of project documentation and sustainability evidence.
Required Skills and Experience: - A strong interest in sustainability in the built environment, ideally with a qualification or background in environmental science, architecture, engineering, or construction management.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Some experience or familiarity with Life Cycle Assessment tools and sustainability frameworks in construction (e.g., EPDs, OneClick LCA, BREEAM, HPI, etc.) is an advantage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and comfortable with spreadsheets, templates, and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Proactive, flexible, and capable of working with minimal direction when needed.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Essential): - Experience working in or with construction or property development teams.
- Familiarity with Irish or UK-based sustainability standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience using project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, Monday.com).
